Ass-Kicking Email – Zero Time? Here’s How to Learn Without the Time Commitment

Hey,

In this email I’m going to talk about a method I’ve used extensively
to learn without investing a large time commitment: audio books.

Audio Books — Learning Without the Time Commitment

Almost all learning activities require some time investment.

No, it should require dozens of hours of wasteful rote learning.
But whether you use rapid learning tactics or not, you still need
to spend *some* time learning.

This can make things difficult, particularly when you already have
a busy schedule. How do you learn new things when you don’t have
time in the day?

One of my favorite solutions to this problem is to get material on
audio books. Audio books allow you to study when you’re doing other
tasks.

When you’re driving, cleaning, cooking, waiting in line or just
walking around, you can easily listen to an audio book on your
MP3 Player or iPod.

When I used to do this more intensively, I could sometimes listen
to a few hours of audio each day, even though I allocated no time
directly to listening to audio books.

So what can you use the audio book method for?

The most obvious is to learn about subjects you’re interested in,
but don’t have time to sit down and read a paperback. Most books
from self-help to history, have audio versions you can listen to.

If you’re learning a language, then you can use this method to
listen to podcasts in that language. I’ve been doing this the last
several months to improve my French comprehension.

You can even do this for your studies. Simply turn on a microphone
and recording software and read out the ideas in your notes. Then
convert that to an MP3 file, put it on your player and you can
listen to yourself explaining the subject.

That’s all for today. Stay tuned for more guides and more
ass-kicking emails!
