Project-based learning is the main method I use whenever tackling
new self-education goals–whether it is for my business, learning
computer programming or taking on French.

The main advantage of this method is it allows you to structure
your self-education efforts (so you don’t lose motivation and give
up) but at the same time makes the process more interesting (so you
don’t get bored with studying).

Side projects may seem like a luxury, especially when you’re faced
with tough courses.

I don’t advocate taking on extra side projects when you’re truly
swamped. However, for many students they can be an incredibly
high-leverage activity that will encourage your success.
